Chapter 424: Supreme Godhead, Good Stuff - Socially Anxious Witch in the Apocalypse
The divine punishment, shrouded in black flames, descended. The abyss where the fallen Supreme God Luo He was banished was blasted into chaotic nothingness. Luo He, clinging to his last breath at the bottom of the abyss, looked up at the sky and staggered, a smile gracing his lips. "Seems like I'm given no chance to survive." The second and third catastrophic divine punishments struck in unison, as if intending to obliterate the inner world altogether. Luo He closed his eyes. Regardless, managing to slay the witch before his death left him with no regrets. The witch was indeed a once-in-a-generation prodigy. If not for her downfall, her future achievements would have been extraordinary. Yet, stifling such a prodigy was truly a delightful experience! Boom! The second and third divine punishments struck Luo He, utterly shattering his divine soul. His dispersing soul and the curses of vengeful spirits were engulfed in starlight, burning fiercely. In the last moment of his dissipating consciousness, Luo He suddenly noticed something. The witch had fallen, so why was the starlight still burning so brightly? Such terrifying divine punishment, yet the witch's starlight continued to blaze—this was beyond his understanding. It defied logic! ... ... The fallen Supreme God Luo He perished. To his last breath, he never discovered the final answer. "The divine punishment has dissipated, and the fallen Supreme God is dead!" Someone shouted, and many demon lords and evil gods flew toward the abyss. "Step aside, the divinity is mine!" "Who do you think you are, thinking you can touch the Supreme Divinity?" "Get lost, who allowed you to interfere?" Boom, boom, boom! Before anyone could reach the abyss, the gods began to fight over the coveted Supreme Divinity within it. If this Supreme Divinity were from some ancient relic or tomb, everyone would worry about potential traps or threats of being overthrown during the struggle. But this Divine Spark had no such issues. For this Supreme God had fallen, his state and power declined, and he was mortally wounded by the witch. Ultimately slain and purified by divine punishment, the remnant Divine Spark was unprecedentedly clean. For a moment, the gods fought fiercely, turning the skies dark as day turned to night. In the Void Abyss, Si Wu's face was somewhat grim. He had witnessed the battle between Witch Su Miao and the fallen Supreme God, which had even shattered a corner of his Void Abyss. If he hadn't controlled the powers of Si Heng, the damage to the Void Abyss would have been catastrophic. Witch Su Miao—terrifying beyond measure. It was a pity, Witch Su Miao had perished, and everything had concluded. If not for his original body’s revival entering a critical stage, he too would have considered vying for the Supreme Divinity. Great Demon King Kento looked toward the void, finding it hard to believe that Witch Su Miao had fallen. But... Suddenly, the gods near the abyss stopped fighting in unison. A spatial rift appeared in the void, and unexpectedly, Witch Su Miao emerged unscathed. Su Miao stood in the void, holding the Starry Staff, her pink hair flowing. Without saying a word, she exerted immense pressure on the gods. "I just remembered I haven't fed the cat in days, I should go back." "Oh, I have a big business deal to negotiate, let's call it a day." "Oh no, I have a meeting, next time." "Ah, I've been severely injured, I'll take my leave first." "My wife's furious, I must buy her a gift, farewell." In the blink of an eye, the main gods who had been in a fierce battle around the abyss scattered completely. A few managed to rush into the Void Abyss. However, a small old man remained in the void. He wanted to descend and retrieve the Supreme Divinity, but the starlight burning within the abyss was too fierce. This flame was his nemesis. If he ventured down, he'd be consumed along with it. He hadn't expected the target to return alive. Fortunately, Witch Su Miao would surely take the Supreme Divinity, and he could intercept it then. Su Miao ignored the old man, pointing her Starry Staff toward the abyss, and an unclaimed Supreme Divinity emerged, coming to rest before her. Sensing Su Miao's presence, the curses and vengeful spirits hidden deep within the Supreme Divinity flew out, willingly welcoming the starlight. Among them, several powerful cursed spirits stood in the void, bowing to Su Miao in gratitude. Su Miao watched silently, accepting their thanks with composure. Suddenly, endless merit crossed the cosmic stars, descending upon Su Miao. Looking at this merit, Su Miao blinked, feeling something unusual, almost strange. Although she practiced "Tai Chi Mind Flow," studied "Tao and Magic," her main discipline was magic—she was a witch. For a witch to possess such boundless merit, wasn't it peculiar? And where did this merit even come from? Su Miao tried to trace it but found no source. However, she could speculate somewhat. On one hand, she had killed the fallen Supreme God Luo He, avenging an entire universe's worth of vengeful spirits and granting them release. The fact that these vengeful curses bowed in gratitude before being thoroughly purified by starlight indicated this. Moreover, for the inner world, the fallen Supreme God Luo He was a toxic anomaly. By assisting in his removal, she gained the universe's recognition and gratitude. With so much merit, Su Miao felt she could very well ascend to become a formidable chief god solely on merit. Alternatively, she could devour this Supreme Divinity, then purify herself through merit, ascending halfway to Supreme God, or even directly achieving it. Of course, that depended on not worrying about lingering curses within the Divinity. However, Su Miao wanted none of these choices. The merit, she planned to research and create an avatar, one that didn't require her to return—a future independent persona wouldn't bother her. As for the Supreme Divinity, she would use it for domain research. Once finished, discarding it wasn't an issue. No, that was too risky. This Supreme Divinity, in the future, should be shattered, used as an energy source, as a precaution. Watching the starlight on the Supreme Divinity extinguish, the old man who had retreated during the merit onslaught courageously rushed forward. This peculiar chief god was a mere anomaly in ancient times, accidentally swallowing a broken demon core to ascend as a god, acquiring limited rationality. Calling it rationality might not be precise. In truth, he developed partial cerebral existence. Before becoming a god, these elements were entirely chaotic. Post-ascension, it meant some malfunctioning components of his mind, thoughts became operational. The divine opportunity solidified this peculiar reasoning into a path of consuming others to gain strength. Thus, he assassinated, ambushed, and devoured multiple demon lords, evil gods, growing ever stronger. Centuries ago, he even devoured the Divinity of a gravely wounded chief god, finally reaching his current power. At the chief god level, devouring others is extremely challenging unless a battlefield clash turns devastating, allowing a chance to grasp a few Divinities. Otherwise, for a peculiar chief god to advance was daunting. That was his reason for venturing into the Void Abyss. His luck was generous, encountering countless demon cores, evil god Divinities, and that Supreme Divinity. If he managed to devour them all, he might ascend to Supreme. His desire to improve was intense. Driven by instinct, the peculiar chief god directly assumed an indescribable form, lunging at the Supreme Divinity with the fading starlight. He had seen Witch Su Miao's battle clearly earlier—a formless body couldn’t be restrained. Without a corporeal form, you couldn't be targeted. Flawless. As for Witch Su Miao's terrifying attacks during her previous clash with Luo He, his countless minds reasoned that given Su Miao's current strength, she couldn't unleash such power a second time. If his adversaries were ordinary chief gods, this assumption might hold. But his foe was Witch Su Miao. Even Su Miao herself was uncertain of her true power. Noticing the indescribable peculiar chief god charging, Su Miao pointed her staff at the void. Starlight Blooms! With newfound understanding from her previous battle, Su Miao could now instantaneously cast Starlight Blooms. Though this starlight’s potency wasn't on par with the strike that obliterated Luo He, its might was still formidable. The peculiar chief god was stunned. He seemed to face Su Miao's Starlight Blooms head-on, the central part directly obliterated. Remaining portions burned as starlight spread, setting the vast void ablaze. “Aaaahhh…” Ghostly wails echoed through the void. The peculiar chief god's luck wasn't on his side; Starlight Blooms was his bane. Soon, he was reduced to a single seven-colored crystal core, remarkably beautiful. It was far more exquisite than anything she had previously stumbled upon in the inner world. It was hard to imagine such a beautiful crystal core could exist within the grotesque, indescribable form of the peculiar chief god; the wonders of creation were truly marvelous. Su Miao picked up the seven-colored crystal core, examining it briefly, and realized it was particularly effective as a source of energy. Such a valuable find. Su Miao stored the seven-colored crystal core in her magical space. At that moment, the starlight on the Supreme Divinity had already extinguished, and Su Miao stored it away as well. ... "How is she still alive?" "Terrifying, I almost didn't make it." "The fallen Supreme God has perished, yet she remains unscathed, even capable of instantly killing a peculiar chief god." "Hiss..." "Does anyone know the origins of this witch?" "No one knows, she seemed to appear out of nowhere." "No, it was the Jie Mo Evil God who drew this witch from another world..." "Where's the Jie Mo Evil God? I need to talk to him." "He was crushed to death by the witch." ... Seeing Su Miao put away the Supreme Divinity, the gods ceased their discussions immediately, fearing they might draw her attention. Su Miao merely glanced at the gods and chose not to engage. With the Supreme Divinity in her possession, the divinities and cores of these gods were irrelevant to her now. Meanwhile, something monumental appeared to be unfolding within the Void Abyss. ... In the Void Abyss, the Yi Tian Demon God, the Yin Hun Demon God, and the Curse Shrimp Head braved countless perils to reach the highest island in the sky. There, they discovered a land littered with bones. Despite the passage of time, it was evident that these bones once belonged to extraordinarily powerful beings. Many of these remains were once strong enough to be chief gods, with a few being near-Supreme Gods, or even at the threshold of Supreme rank. "What exactly happened here in the Void Abyss?" Even the well-traveled Yi Tian Demon God had never encountered such a sight. "This place is unusual," stated a distinguished-looking Evil God. "Under normal circumstances, a chief god's body wouldn't decay for tens of thousands of years, let alone turn to bones." That's obvious. With half-step Supreme Gods and near-Supreme Gods reduced to bones, something terrifying had clearly occurred here. Still, there might be a connection between these bones and the reopening of the Void Abyss. Worst case, they might become part of these bones as well. Hence, the chief gods proceeded cautiously, daring not to advance further. The Curse Shrimp Head glanced around and tried to leave the island, only to be blown back by an inexplicable gale. Seeing this, the Yi Tian Demon God and the Yin Hun Demon God shifted uneasily. Clearly, they had walked into a trap. "Are we just going to wait here to die?" Yi Tian Demon God said, "Whatever lies ahead, I intend to find out." If they couldn’t leave, their only option was to move forward. Meanwhile, their every move was under Si Wu's watchful eye. Chief gods, yet again. Si Wu's lips curled into a slight smile. With his current form, he couldn't kill a chief god. Yet, as his original form neared revival, these chief gods would serve as energy supplements post-awakening. He turned and headed toward the deep island's arcane formation, which began to stir to life. Si Wu's corporeal form gradually dissipated. Who knows how much time had passed when a massive entity in the island's depths opened its eyes. Under the erosion of millions of years, this body was little more than skin and bones. Yet, compared to prior revivals, it seemed more spirited this time. "Void." It uttered a single syllable. In an instant, complex magical formations illuminated the island. Shocked, the Yi Tian Demon God, the Yin Hun Demon God, the Curse Shrimp Head, and several Evil Gods felt an intense sense of danger. The first was an Evil God who barely took a few steps before watching in horror as his body dematerialized, withering. He seemed to turn into pure energy, devoured by some dreadful entity. "Ah!" His scream resounded in agony, marking him as the first chief god to fall upon landing on the island. Fresh bones were tossed down. At that moment, the gods understood the origin of the bones strewn across the island. The Curse Shrimp Head appeared to sense something. It ascended high into the sky, releasing indiscriminate curses into the void. "Damn shrimp head, what are you doing?" "Shit, I'm hit!" "This shrimp head has gone mad; we need to take it down, or we'll fall first." "I suppose we might not need to intervene." ... The chief gods turned to the void, witnessing the Curse Shrimp Head seemingly caught by an invisible hand. The Curse Shrimp Head struggled mightily, releasing curse after curse, almost tainting the entire void, but to no avail. Dark sin descended, enveloping, absorbing, digesting, and integrating the Curse Shrimp Head. In the end, only a fragile shrimp shell remained on the ground. Too weak. Having dispatched two chief gods in succession, Si Wu sneered. Compared to previous chief gods who ventured here, these were pathetic. He had just awakened, and energy from the dead demon lords and evil gods of the Void Abyss was still being gradually assimilated, leaving him with less than a tenth of his power. Should they have fought desperately, it would have plunged him into endless trouble. Unfortunately, they faltered. Just as he thought this, the Yi Tian Demon God, unable to find an opponent, unleashed his artifact, slamming it forcefully onto the great island!.
